Position Title: Dimensional Data Modeler
Location: Sacramento, CA 94203
Work Type: W-2, Corp to Corp, 1099
Contract duration: 6months + (strong possibility of extension)
PROJECT SCOPE/TASKS
The scope of this project encompasses the following tasks:
1. Participate in data requirements gathering as needed and provide quality assurance of analysis completed by staff such as bus matrices, use cases, design documents, or testing deliverables
2. Work closely with client's BI and Data Modeling teams to develop, design and enhance dimensional models to address different functional business areas' analytical needs, such as retirement and health benefits.
3. Provide overview of dimensional data models to the client's staff, including information architects, business architects, security administrators, data modelers, data administrators, data managers, data reporters and Business Intelligence (BI) staff
4. Validate client's business information flow and business rules against dimensional/conceptual models utilizing existing documentation such as bus matrices, use cases and business requirements
5. Ensure dimensional model supports current and future analytics required to meet business objectives
6. Work with client's data integration team members to define rules to load and transform data into the BI star schema
7. Provide feedback to the client's BI data validation team and ensure that they are capturing the correct and complete requirements
8. Review client's BI data validation team's data findings and provide feedback and fix transformation logic as necessary
9. Mentor client's staff on dimensional modelling best practices following Kimball approach and advanced design considerations such as star versus snowflake schemas, drilling across fact tables, etc.
10. Attend project, staff, and management meetings as required
11. Record work hours daily in required time tracking tools
12. Submit monthly status report with invoices
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- At least five (5) years' experience with dimensional modelling of an enterprise data warehouse
- At least five (5) years' experience supporting the design and development of analytical models, tools, or programs
- At least three (3) years' experience with complex PL/SQL
- At least three (3) years of said experience must have been on a project(s) with a budget of at least $15 million
- Proven ability to reason logically and creatively and use a variety of analytical and research techniques to solve complex problems; analyze situations and propose an effective course of action; analyze data; identify the need for and provide creative thinking related to complex problems, develop and evaluate alternatives.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a variety of audience types using different mechanisms including informal updates, formal presentations, business case documents, and other analytical and technical documents.
