Description
Location: City of LondonLeading investment bank requires a Senior DevOps engineer to join the company's Digital Transformation programme at the heart of the business.
You would be expected to provide technical direction, and then contribute to making this a reality - this is very much a hands-on role, with the usual utopian goal of having our systems and SDLC processes run themselves. The role will also involve providing guidance and support to delivery and functional teams across the programme.
Key skills:
- Automated everything - builds, deployments, configuration, tests, installations, etc
- Ability to rapidly craft good-quality tools - automation, operational, reporting etc
- Strong Linux, comfortable working with Windows + AIX
- Scripting - shell, perl, Python etc
- Build tools - ant, maven, make etc
- Continuous Integration - setting up, managing, troubleshooting
- SCM tools - RTC, ClearCase
- Web + application servers
- RDBMS, including DBA fundamentals and SQL - ideally Oracle or DB2
- Configuration Management
- Performance analysis and tuning fundamentals, OS and JVM level
- Implementing ad-hoc and strategic monitoring solutions
- Solid hands-on networking knowledge - troubleshooting, configuring
- Significant exposure to web technologies (HTML, JavaScript, JSP, content management, caching, etc)
Ideally you also know:
- Automated testing tools - Selenium, JBehave, SOAP UI etc
- New-gen devops tools (e.g. Chef, Puppet, Cloud-based solutions etc)
- Server Virtualisation
- Continuous Delivery
- Content Management Systems
- Solid understanding of Security fundamentals
Rate: Up to £650 p/day
Start: ASAP (can wait 4 weeks)
Duration: 6-12 months initial, scope for multiple extensions (Contract role)
