ABOUT SMARTCARE

What do Stanford, Harvard, Yale, University of Miami, Duke, University of Michigan, Baylor, Costco, Sam’s Club and (soon to be) Walgreens all have in common?

They run hearing aid centers.

A hearing aid center is a place where those who suffer from hearing loss can be tested, counseled and hopefully fit with a pair of hearing aids.

At Smartcare, we’re building a software that will transform how hearing aid centers all over the world operate and deliver patient care. We’ve spent over a year creating a product that’s beautiful, functional and above all, something people want.

We’re two months out from shipping the app and couldn't be more optimistic about the future.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
An awesome Senior Ruby on Engineer who feels at home in Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, ActiveAdmin, Chef and AWS. You must be very comfortable writing tests (we use Rspec), and be the type of person who wouldn't dream of shipping a feature without writing a suite of tests. You don’t have to be an expert in all of this, but you do need to demonstrate the interest, drive and desire to keep learning and improving.

You’ll also need to:

Have a passion for craftsmanship and elegantly designed apps.

Be proactive, not reactive.

Write well and communicate clearly.

Work closely with our team of engineers and designers.

Be a “no-ego” doer.

A BIT ABOUT OUR TEAM
We have a small team of truly kind people – the type we think you’ll want to work with. We have a few engineers, a designer, a writer, a hearing center owner/practitioner and a sales and marketing guy. Our main office is located in St.George, Utah, but most of our team works remotely.

When you come work with Smartcare you’re not employee #80, you’re team member number six. Your impact will be felt.

WORKING WITH US - THE PERKS

Live where you want. Live and work from wherever makes you the happiest (and the most productive). If that place just happens to be our office, great we’ve got room for you. If not, that’s fine too. We place far more value on what you get done, not where.

No crazy hours. We rarely work more than 40 hours per week. There’s of course the occasional crunch time when more hours are required, but most make sure to take extra time off to balance it out. We fully believe in having a life outside of work.

Take a vacation(s). We want you to, in fact, we have a minimum vacation policy of three weeks per year (plus two extra weeks for Christmas break). It’s important to get out and do something, just send the team a picture.

Build a culture. The exciting thing (we think) is that you won’t just be building an app, you’ll also play a role in building this company. Our hope is that you’ll want to help shape the culture of Smartcare by your involvement in choosing future team members, company vacation spots and what to include in a new office build out.

Make money, have ownership. The starting salary for this role is $70-90k (based on cost of living and experience). We’re also entrusting our first string of team members with part ownership of the company.
