Location: Dublin City
Salary: €240 - €270 per day
Contract Type: 4 Months (Extension a Possibility)

RAN Engineer

Our client a leading Telecommunications organisation is seeking a RAN Engineer to join their team Based in Dublin City.

The RAN Engineer will be working with our clients Service Management Centre (SMC). The RAN Engineer will be responsible for performing operations, maintenance and support on our clients Radio Access network Technology & Infrastructure as they through a period of significant network rollout and upgrade

The Ideal candidate will be familiar with mobile technologies and have experience of working in an similar role. They will have the ability to thrive in a team atmosphere and work interactively across multiple departments & multiple technologies. The will be a highly motivated, customer-focused, self-starter with a technical aptitude and a commitment to achieving results.

RAN Engineer Key Responsibilities/Deliverables

  • Primary support for all rollout programs across 2G, 3G, 4G, transmission and core nodes.
  • Validating 3rd party access request to RAN sites, monitoring service performance during & after visit. Completing all H&S steps for lone workers.
  • Assisting on site support with all rollout changes - site audits, sweeps, site shutdown, link upgrade, alarm check.
  • Tracking RAN change requests in progress updating oncoming shift on any RAN work scheduled or ongoing.
  • Performing system upgrades and expansion.
  • Co-ordinating 2G, 3G and 4G rollout activities, tracking activity on site and escalating faults and policy breeches.
  • Performing scheduled health checks on all nodes.
  • Proactive & reactive management and reporting of Clients 2G, 3G, & 4G RAN networks on a 24*7 Basis.
  • Proactive activity -performance monitoring; identifying, tracking & resolving minor incidents & alarms on RAN nodes as a result of change implementation.
  • Reactive activity - investigating service affecting 2G, 3G or 4G RAN faults, organizing access, spares, tracking incidents to resolution. Working with Mosaic and Ericsson support teams to resolve issues as a result of rollout program.
  • End to end handling of helpdesk calls, mails and SMC RAN ticket queue, against coverage/call quality/throughput incidents received as a result of rollout activity or new site activation and resolving within SLA.
  • Monitoring & reporting on system/network performance, availability & traffic.
  • Monitoring & reporting on department performance in accordance with SLA.
  • Completing daily operations report and conference call to assist with minimizing downtime and prioritizing faults.
  • General administration activities associated with the role

RAN Engineer ESSENTIAL Requirements/Skills:

  • An understanding of the mobile telecommunications environment is required and in particular from an operational standpoint.
  • There is also a requirement for excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • The role requires generalist knowledge across a wide array of technology - GSM, UMTS, LTE, Transmission, signalling protocols.
  • Information exchange is a significant feature of the job with a necessity to clarify information of a more complex nature.
  • There is a requirement for tact and diplomacy in dealing with others.
  • Shift work is mandatory.

RAN Engineer DESIREABLE Requirements/Skills:

  • 3 year or more experience working in a telecoms (GSM, UMT, Circuit switched core network) environment.
  • Experience working on Ericsson RBS6000, understanding of 2G, 3G & 4G networks, PDH & SDH transmission troubleshooting.
  • Understand functionality of HLRs, MSC, RNC, BSC.
  • Familiarity with trouble ticketing systems
  • Experience working in a service orientated, customer focused environment.
  • Unix experience and familiarity with SQL
  • ITIL Certification
