I am currently recruiting for a Infrastructure Architect/Designer for a leading Retail Bank. I have outlined the role details below.

Role: Infrastructure Architect/Designer
Rate: Varies
Location:Manchester
Contract Length: 6 months initially with a view to extend

Working within a dynamic Bank IT department the Infrastructure Architect/Designer is responsible for the design of infrastructure solutions, IT services and cost estimates on the Bank technology projects in line with IT Strategy & Architecture's principles, directives and blueprints.

The Infrastructure Architect/Designer will:

*To Lead infrastructure design to define and realise multi-faceted infrastructure solutions taking complex ideas, objectives or problems and work them through to simple solutions based on agreed principles and patterns while recognising synergies and options
*To provide accurate estimates to Infrastructure Delivery Leads for inclusion in end to end project costs and business cases
*Leadership within the project of technical resources and SMEs with a wide range of technical skills
*Manage solution designs within the Bank's architectural governance framework throughout the project
*Input to infrastructure solution frameworks and patterns displaying awareness of external markets and suppliers, so that the best value for money and service is delivered to the Bank.
*To drive improvements in the Infrastructure Solution team to enhance performance and meet agreed business and personal objectives
*Work with 3rd party supplier build teams, development and test environment leads to ensure that the environments implemented on the project comply to the signed off agreed designs and are fit for purpose
*Involvement with 3rd parties to design product integration to either existing or new solutions
*Act as a technical escalation point and convene troubleshooting teams to ensure rapid identification and resolution of infrastructure issues

Experience for the Infrastructure Architect/Designer

*Strong communication and influencing skills for dealing with internal management and teams, liaison with business partners and customers and external IT suppliers.
*Good working knowledge of all the relevant business operations
*Commercially aware of financial management processes

Have a broad understanding of outsourced services along with detailed understanding of three or more of the following subject matters:

oMainframe (CICS, Cobol, Objecstar, CA Datacom, VSAM etc.)
oUNIX Environments (AIX, Linux, Solaris etc.)
oWintel Environments
oStorage Environments
oNetwork Environments
oDesktop Environments
oData Centre Hosting
oCloud Services
oMobile and BYOD
oMiddleware and Integration (IBM Message Broker, DataStage etc.)

*Good technical authoring skills
*A working knowledge of ITIL processes
*A working knowledge of Project Delivery Methodology
*Competent in the use of IT tools and applications relevant to specialised area
*Willingness to produce end to end designs crossing specialised areas outside of own specialisation
*Must naturally share knowledge
