Description

Control and Instrumentation Engineer required for a leading global defence company based in Edinburgh. The contractor will be required to work within the maritime industry.

Main to day to day Duties:-

  • Performing/preparing Calculations, Data Sheets, Specifications, Schedules and Drawings as required, and coordinating with the other departments to achieve the required projects objectives and deliverables schedules. Including, but not restricted to the following:
  • Promote and maintain a culture of openness, honesty, commitment and continuous improvement.
  • Actively support the company's Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality and other policies and procedures.
  • motors, pressure/temperature/level/flow etc instrumentation, gauge boards, junctions boxes, control panels, starter panels, rotating machinery packages, cables/glands.
  • Schedules - Instrument, cable, power/utilities,
  • Drawings - instrument and control panels, power/control/instrumentation schematic and wiring diagrams, hazardous/safe area.
  • Control system architecture, communication links with third party equipment.
  • Efficient and effective reviewing, checking and approving of drawings, documents, schedules etc.
  • Evaluation of Quotations and liaising with other disciplines, suppliers and third parties to ensure equipment and system technical correctness, optimum commercial benefit and integrity.
  • Preparation and development of initial design of PLC programming and HMI screens for the plant monitoring and control systems.
  • Efficient and timely review and clarification of Vendor drawings/documentation, project documentation and standards.
  • Visits to Clients, sites, suppliers and other locations as required including commissioning/testing activities, Factory Acceptance Tests, technical discussions.
  • Actively seek to anticipate and mitigate problems/difficulties.

Qualifications and Experience:-

  • HND or Degree qualified in relevant engineering degree.
  • CI + E experience in either a project engineering or design engineering role.
  • Some design engineering experience in the layout of E+I control panels.
  • Preferably process industry experience but would consider from other industries such as water, wastewater, power, pharmaceutical and drinks or food industry.
  • Some experience in witnessing and managing the commissioning or FAT of systems.
