Key deliverables
- Design of the Mobile Packet Core network supporting 2G/3G/4G technologies.
- Development of complex network solutions, capacity management, optimisation & performance.
- Manage in life upgrades (both hardware & software) of mobile packet core & supporting infrastructure.
- Deliver key technical solutions while achieving critical business requirements.
- Prioritisation of tasks and ability to allocate own time to successfully complete projects with minimal supervision.
- Planning, design & build responsibility for packet core network supporting 2G/3G/4G technologies.
- Analysis of core network performance using agreed KPI's in order to identify and evaluate network trends, making technical recommendations where necessary.
- Responsible for network architecture reviews and developing detailed design documentation/diagrams.
- Collaborate with other business areas such as CTO to ensure the successful execution of long term technical strategies.
- Work closely with Eircom's vendors through all phases of project delivery (requirements gathering, design, implementation and testing etc).
- 3rd Tier support to service operations areas on customer service issues.
Requirements:
- Strong Knowledge of mobile packet core architecture (SGSN, GGSN, MME, PCEF etc).
- Substantial design experience within multi-vendor core environments (Ericsson, Cisco, ALU etc).
- Detailed knowledge of PS core fundamentals (intra and inter RAT mobility, session management) & 3GPP Specifications, architecture and call flows.
- Detailed understanding of PS core protocols (IP, TCP, UDP, SCTP, GTP, Radius, Diameter, SIGTRAN, RANAP, GMM, Diameter)
- Good understanding of OSPF, BGP HSRP, L2 VLANs/VRF
- Knowledge of DNS, IP Addressing, NAT, load balancing/distribution.
- Knowledge of Linux/Solaris/UNIX Operating Systems and Scripting a bonus.
- Proven track record of success when delivering medium-large scale technical projects.
