For Technical Lead/Manager - IBM WebSphere Commerce/J2EE - Milan, Italy

A major client of mine, based in Milan, Italy are currently looking for a Technical Lead/Manager to join their well-established organization. This is an urgent position and is offering an immediate start for the right candidate. It is essential that you are experienced in support and client management. You must be able to work with the offshore team on one hand and manage client expectations on the other - excellent communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in requirement gathering and design sessions and creates necessary requirement artifacts based on the guidelines
  • Writes application code to meet expected quality standards by conforming to the steps of
    doneness defined by the project.
  • Identifies and creates unit test cases and writes code to validate those test cases
  • Participates in technical walkthroughs/code reviews of other team member's components, test plans and results and help them with gaps
  • Works with Architect to create mid-level and low level plans for the modules they own or are working on
  • Identifies & escalates issues that might delay the work. Reports progress and issues to the
    Manager in a timely manner. In particular, to relay issues that might impact on quality or the ability to deliver to timescales or estimates.
  • Delivers in compliance with HCL methodology, processes, tools and technology standards
  • Creates, maintains and updates the design documentation for the modules he/she is
    responsible for
  • Participates in client meetings when required, and provide inputs and ask relevant questions during both the design and implementation phases.
  • Mentoring Team members and providing WCS trainings to newer members of the team

Background Experience:

  • Candidates should have a minimum of 6-8 years as a J2EE/Java application development experience
  • 3-5 years of development/implementation experience with WebSphere Commerce
  • A proven track record of applying problem solving; development approaches; requirements capturing and gap analysis for both custom developments and COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) packages is essential
  • Experience in retail domain would be advantageous

Technical Skill Required:

  • Strong hands-on experience with WebSphere Commerce Server (WCS 7.6 and above) & Java J2EE development
  • Complete understanding of online E-commerce concepts (ie shop, browse, order, B2B/B2C etc.)
  • Knowledge of all sub-system of WCS
  • Complete knowledge of one end to end integration with a 3rd party provider
  • In-depth understanding of WCS programming model (ie BOD, command, store-jsp, view etc.)
  • Knowledge of SOLR search engine
  • Good understanding of various business Models ie B2B, B2C
  • Should have good understanding of JSON/DOJO (Web 2.0 store front) implementation.
  • Should be able to break down problem into logical chunks clearly (implementation level design) and have developed some of these
  • Should independently code complex functionality ensuring completeness
  • Should be able to come up with boundary conditions, validations and assumptions for the problem
  • Should be able to explain his/her current project architecture and how everything fits together
  • Should be able to plan and track for his/her own piece of work
  • Should have a good understanding of Development Processes

You will be working at the prototype stage, but should the prototype go well, you will be handed the responsibility of being the technical lead for my client's marketing project.
