Role: Senior Software Engineer (Java)
Location: Dublin
This financial institution is one of the largest mutual fund and financial services groups in the world and the technology projects they are working on now are cutting edge and require someone with an innovative approach who likes working in a collaborative environment.
This role is perfect for someone who is very keen on product-based environments. The candidate will part take in the design, development, implementation and support of a workflow product at an enterprise level in this organisation.
This candidate must possess excellent client and partner relationship skills; have exceptional communication skills combined with the necessary drive, discipline and technical acumen to deliver solutions in a complex and mission-critical environment. The candidate will demonstrate design and technical skills with expert knowledge of information technology concepts, efficient development methodology, practices and procedures. The individual will work under minimal direction and is expected to follow established processes.
Education:
*Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent technology discipline.
*Minimum of 8 years IT experience, with at least 6 years of development experience in a web based environment.
*Experience working in a distributed environment.
Reponsibilities:
*Design, develop and implement data solutions using Java, Spring and JavaScript
*Ensure production platform stability by working closely with the operations team to resolve issues and proactively suggest ways to improve
*Work as part of the project delivery team to ensure that requirements are delivered in accordance with business needs, including participation in project quality assurance.
*Convey information on critical issues in a timely fashion.
*Participate in and resolve production issues as required.
*Design and perform unit level and integrated system testing
*Assist in the planning and execution of user acceptance testing and document and resolve issues
*Participate as part of a production support rota for the application
Skills:
*Strong J2EE, JSP, Java, Spring and Web Service skills.
*Database interaction using Spring, Hibernate, and JDBC.
*Experience and thorough understanding of financial services.
*Experience with Eclipse and Tomcat.
*Continuous Deployment Experience.
*Experience with UI, SOAP and REST web services
*Experience with SOA an advantage.
*Experience with Agile development processes and principles.
*Full project life cycle experience.
*Strong analysis, design, and estimation skills
*Good customer facing skills - strong customer focus required.
*Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
*Ability to adapt to a dynamic business environment.
*Excellent problem solving skills
*Flexibility to travel to US as required
