NC Programmer - Catia V5, NC Programming, Vericut V6, V7 Machine Simulation

An NC Programmer with Catia V5, NC Programming, Vericut V6, V7 Machine Simulation skills/experience is required to work on a six month contract with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Lancashire.

An opportunity exists within Detail Manufacturing Engineering for a number of Metallic NC Programmers. The role will primarily involve the creation/modification of NC programs using Catia V5, using Vericut V6 and V7 machine simulation for tool path checking.

Overview of the NC Programmer contract role

The successful candidate will be working with a team looking to discharge engineering data at a pace and at a constant high quality.

Key Responsibility Area

  • Use of Catia V5 for generation of NC data using NC workbenches/process catalogues etc.
  • Post processing NC code - understanding issues within the outputs and rectifying if required.
  • Generating clear and concise work instructions for communication to the NC machine shop floor environment.
  • Following key processes and working with guidelines for the generation and approval of NC data.
  • Tape proving NC data in line with requirements - either Machine Operator or answering queries during tape prove process.
  • Using PLM tools (Metaphase/TeamCenter) to manage configuration of Design and NC data in line with project requirements

Key skills required for the NC Programmer

  • Proven experience in Manufacturing Engineering with an excellent Catia V5 NC background
  • Ability to analyse information and apply engineering judgement to technical content
  • Having good organisation skills with the ability to plan and execute workload, and to work independently to successfully complete intended tasks
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Experience in Microsoft Office products
  • Knowledge of relevant engineering standards
  • A good understanding of post processors and G code creation is advantageous and a working knowledge of Siemens 840D and Fanuc 31i machine controllers would be of benefit but not essential
  • Experience in the latest hard and soft metal machining techniques is vital

The role is based in Lancashire - commutable from Preston, Blackpool, Chorley, Leyland, Blackburn, Darwen, Burnley, Skipton, Stockport, Manchester, Warrington, Wigan, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and Oldham with excellent access from Liverpool, Lancaster and Leeds
