Description

The contract Solution Designer will be an active member of the Solutions Delivery team working on end-to-end solutions across Development Centres, primarily developing viable end to end technical solutions to meet functional and non- functional requirements.

Scope of activities include the following:

  • Propose cost effective and practical solutions to business requirements within assigned programme
  • Leadership and support to other designers engaged in creating and maintaining designs, ensuring solutions and associated products adhere to architectural, time, documentation, cost and quality standards
  • Ensure that implemented designs are operationally successful and meet all agreed functional requirements
  • Production of design documents appropriate to assignment potentially including (but not restricted to): initial design options, solution outline documents, high level solution designs, logical and physical data models, architectural overview diagrams, system context diagrams, technical environment plans
  • SOAPs and similar documents making recommendations and proposals (including initial costing of defined solutions) for consumption of key stakeholders. Documents in support of the project sponsor or management if required
  • Actively participate in programme design meetings and contribute to the resolution of key design decisions
  • Full compliance with agreed QMS processes and procedures
  • Proactive recommendations to instigate practical enhancements to company processes, procedures and technical direction to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Identification, understanding and management of programme risks/issues and interdependencies
  • Generic skills/qualifications include:
  • Design Skills
  • Agile/scrum experience.
  • Strong influencing skills & great stakeholder management.
  • Mature approach to handling conflict
  • Understanding of change and/or IT frameworks
  • Strong functional design experience
  • Non-functional/service design experience
  • Good verbal and written communication Skills
  • Good understanding of Service Orientated Architecture and Enterprise Architecture
  • Solid understanding of structured design
  • Budget control
  • Knowledge of visual modelling (eg UML), Requirements gathering, Business modelling, EA Sparx
  • Macro design documentation
