Description

My client, a global oil and gas organisation requires a Financial Reporting Accountant on a interim basis for 12 Months.

This is an opportunity for an individual to learn and understand new legislation relevant to extractive industries and to become a subject matter expert.

The job holder shall also assist Group Tax with certain aspects of tax accounting, including the review and maintenance of tax balances, but does not need to have previous tax experience.

Key accountability's:

  • Ensuring that the organisation collects and correctly reports transparency information consistently across the organisation;
  • Responsibility for ensuring consistency of application across the Group;
  • Manage the process of gathering and reviewing data from the Group's reporting units in order to consolidate the appropriate returns;
  • Responsible for drafting briefing notes and final reporting documents which will ultimately be presented to the organisations Board and externally;
  • Liaise with external assurance providers and a number of internal stakeholders which would include Legal, Group Finance, Company Secretariat and Policy & Corporate Affairs to ensure that they are kept aware of the Group's transparency information and together assess the impact of any developments in transparency reporting;
  • Identify and recommend processes and system changes/improvements;
  • Implement and embed agreed process and system changes/improvements;

What we are looking for

Experience and knowledge required:

  • Experience of working within a financial reporting or similar role;
  • Strong accounting knowledge;
  • Demonstrable experience in reviewing and consolidating data;
  • Able to establish relationships with finance and non-finance professionals in multiple jurisdictions;
  • Oil and gas industry knowledge would be helpful but is not essential;
  • Advanced MS Excel skills;
  • Experience in communicating clearly to management the results of data sets and being able to explain variances between prior period and expected data.

  • Able to constructively review and challenge completeness and accuracy of information submitted from the Group's operations across the world;

  • Be a strong communicator;
  • Be able to work with a variety of disciplines (including finance, tax, legal and PCA) and cultures;
  • Be able to adapt to change;
  • Be Innovative - able to identify and implement process and system changes.
