Mechanical Design Engineer - Weapons system, Structural analysis, Creo
A Mechanical Engineer with an engineering background in a weapons system or design for military use, Creo 2, Structural/Stress analysis and System Control experience is required to work on a four month contract with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Cumbria.
This is a twelve month contract working for a UK leading defence client.
Overview of the Mechanical Engineer contract role.
A vacancy has arisen for a professional Mechanical Engineer to work within the weapons design team on projects through all stages: from design and development stage through to the final manufacture and implementation.
Key skills required for the Mechanical Engineer.
Concept generation and development of weapons sub systems including:
- Structures
- Ammunition feed systems
- Elevation/traverse systems
- Man Machine Interfaces
- Develop designs in line with requirements and all quality and technical standards.
- Perform technical investigations, including evaluation of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations.
- Weight optimization of systems/structures via re-design and/or use of advanced materials, such as titanium and aluminium alloys, composites and additive layer manufacturing techniques.
- Integration of sub-systems into an evolving product design, including laboratory tests, shop-floor development testing and off site trials.
- Derive functional system requirements from customer requirements.
The role is based in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria - commutable from Carnforth, Milnthorpe, Lancaster, Morecambe, Penrith, Workington, Whitehaven and The Lake District.
