Description
Embedded Software ArchitectA global Technology organisation based in Belgium currently requires an Embedded Software Architect to join their development department. The successful Software Architect will be responsible for extracting a helicopter view across multiple, but connected, development projects. The Software Architect will also be utilising their experience to work 'hands on' in the areas of software implementation, development and debugging.
Role and responsibilities:
- Ensure the defined architecture is in sync with customer needs, system architecture and compatible with project timelines
- Define the software architecture and communicate it to development teams and key stakeholders
- Requirement gathering, translate the system requirements into software requirements
- Identify all development tasks and ceate time and project estimations
- Work closely with the development team and coach individuals in the right direction
- Review code and documents generated by the development team
- Participate in the improvement of the product creation quality
- Review HW design, offer advice for a better software integration and impact on the project
- Work in collaboration with the Software Project Leader
- Participate to the project development activities and resolution of technical issues.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience with embedded software development in Java, C, C++, and/or assembly code as a developer and/or architect
- Solid Java programming experience for embedded devices, is essential
- Knowledge of ARM processors and development tools – in particular ARM11, ARM9, CORTEX-M3 and their various compilers
- Embedded Linux experience
- Strong debugging skills
- Good communication skills
- Proficient in English and at least either Dutch or French.

- Telematics and/or the Telematics market in general
- The automotive industry and its process quality requirements
- Java virtual machine internals
- Cellular network technology in general, and 2G/3G/4G cellular baseband stacks in particular
- SW Security concepts and encryption
- GNSS positioning technology
- NFC technology
- Configuration management
- Software quality
