Senior Management Accountant - 3 Month Contract - Immediate Start

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, proactive, qualified Senior Management Accountant to join our accounts team in Croydon, London on an initial 3 month contract. The successful candidate will have excellent Excel skills and utilise these supporting the Major Civil Engineering finance managers and financial controller providing accurate information and analysis of overhead reporting, and control of the ledgers.

Key Requirements

  • balance sheet review with Senior Management Accountant (direct report) & quarterly balance sheet reviews with Financial Controller
  • responsible for the integrity of the management accounts
  • keep track and maintain accruals within the management accountants
  • consolidate the overhead reporting for Major Civil Engineering. The information comes from 6 different systems and sources around the UK.
  • provide commentary and a level of understanding on monthly variations/variances to budget.
  • provide support and preparation of the half year and full year fiscal reporting
  • give support throughout the implementation of the new Oracle R12 system
  • act as a contact point for Intercompany Debtors. Liaise with the CSC (shared service centre) in relation to queries, raising and resolving issues as required
  • help deal with any adhoc queries that arise within the team
  • carry out processes relating to project set up including notifying the CSC
  • lead, develop and coach individuals to build high performing teams and create a pipeline of talent. This includes quarterly PDR reviews & day to day managing.
  • ensure a level of reporting and service to the work winning teams. This will involve creating reports, coming up with analysis and attending a monthly meeting to talk through their financials
  • maintain and ensure that the overhead headcount is correct (circa 1000 people)
  • support payroll and manpower allocations/forecasting

Candidate

  • strong Excel skills, competent at creating pivot tables, SUMIF statements, VLOOKUPS
  • excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to improve processes - The improvement of processes is key to reduce the amount of time that tasks are being completed.
  • be a qualified accountant with substantial experience within a Senior accounting role within a large, complex construction, civil engineering or project - Retail will also be concerned for this role
  • CIMA/ACCA/ACA Qualified
  • be self-motivated
  • hardworking and able to contribute to benefit the team
  • ability to work on initiative and able to cope with changing environments
  • multi-task
  • work towards tight SLA's
