As the Senior Data Analyst working in the Consumer Insights and Targeting (CI&T) Global Product Development group, you will have a critical role in creating these products.

The team builds and maintains many of Experian Marketing Services' Geo-demographic, spatial and behavioural data products, including flagship products such as Mosaic; our core segmentation product that is available in 30 countries.

Key responsibilities

As the Senior Data Analyst your role will be diverse and challenging. You will be highly numerate with a passion for data analytics.

Day to day your work will involve preparing and transforming data, working with specialist statistical software packages, building statistical models, interpreting analytical output and communicating results to stakeholders and other team members.

This is a fantastic opportunity to build market leading products in an expanding global environment; and will involve working in a highly collaborative team using disparate information from a wide variety of data sources. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse client group and travel domestically and internationally.

At the core you will be responsible for eight key activities;

  • Implementation of methodologies: Carry out specified data processing and statistical techniques. Advise on suitability of methodologies and suggest improvements
  • Data checking: Checking of supplied data for sense, consistency and accuracy. Communication of problems to managers and data suppliers
  • Quality control: Monitor processing work and advise your team of problems when encountered. Devise checking procedures to be used during processing.
  • Communication: Communicate verbally with managers, peers and external contacts, interpreting and clarifying as required. Produce documentation including specifications, progress reports, and project documentation.
  • Responsible for own workload, works on projects autonomously, whilst keeping key stakeholders informed of progress and any issues
  • Accountable for technical decisions and project management of junior members workload
  • Presenting data in tabular, chart and graph form using Excel / Powerpoint
  • Assists other members of the team and business with technical questions

Essential;

  • Degree or equivalent level qualification in a numerical subject with a significant statistical content. Ideally attained 2:1 or better
  • Significant experience in practical and statistical data analysis using a wide variety of methods, including clustering, variable reduction techniques and regression modelling
  • Significant experience of working in statistical software SAS or R language
  • Track record of capturing client / project requirements and turning them in to analytical delivery plans
  • Track record of applying data mining / discovery techniques to drive value from data to enhance or create data products
  • Excellent working experience of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Experience working with databases e.g. MS SQL
  • Innovative and creative thinker, ready to question the accepted way of doing things

Desirable;

  • Experience in data visualisation e.g. R, D3, leaflet
  • Experience of advanced unsupervised learning techniques, particularly sparse matrix algebra, used to drive value from transactional data e.g. collaborative filtering, Single Value Decomposition
  • Knowledge and awareness of new "big data" analysis / science tools that are emerging in the marketplace e.g Revolution R, H2O, Spark
