Description

My client a leading International full-service Technology Company specialized in designing, installing, operating and maintaining critical technical infrastructures and system is looking to recruit a Software Developer on a long term contract based in Belgium.

The successful candidate must have extensive experience with Java and GIS and hold a valid security clearance.

REQUIREMENTS:

The contractor assigned to this work must be an experienced (level 2) information system professional, with senior Java GIS software engineer skills at least, as detailed below:

Essential Skills:

Sound knowledge and practical experience of the architectural design, development, implementation, testing and maintenance of software for modern distributed information systems in secure LAN/WAN environments.

Sound knowledge and practical experience of professional software engineering with Java technologies (Java versions 6 and later), with advanced knowledge of application programming interfaces (APIs) in particular for multi-threading, TCP/IP Networking and serial communications, graphical user interfaces (AWT/Swing ), databases (JDBC ), data formats (XML ), distributed applications (RMI ), collections, Beans, serialization, reflection, logging

Sound knowledge and practical experience of GIS software engineering, especially with the Java-based LuciadMap software libraries (LuciadMap versions 10 and later preferred).

Sound knowledge and practical experience of data communication protocols, configuration, troubleshooting, in secure LAN and WAN environments, including TCP/IP Networking and serial communications.

Sound knowledge and practical experience of HTML and XML.

Knowledge and practical experience of Java software profiling, optimization and obfuscation.

Knowledge and practical experience of software code versioning systems.

Knowledge and practical experience of automated Java project building, Java unit testing, Java code analysis, cross-platform Java software installation/upgrade, operating system Scripting (Windows and Unix shells ).

Knowledge and practical experience of the installation, configuration, administration and troubleshooting of Unix Servers (Sun Solaris 10 SPARC and later preferred), and Microsoft Windows Servers and workstations, both on physical hardware and in virtual machines - relevant Oracle/Sun and Microsoft certifications (or equivalent experience) preferred.

Knowledge and practical experience of Microsoft Office products and of web site authoring (Microsoft SharePoint preferred).

Experience with writing and reviewing technical documents and presentations.

Fluency in English. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

Have a national SECRET clearance or in the process of having it, ie must be obtained from National Authorities not later than 1 month after contract award.

Desirable Skills:

Post-graduate diploma in an IS engineering related subject. Demonstrable evidence in maintaining knowledge of advances in IS engineering.

Knowledge and practical experience of developing software and administering computer systems in secure/classified military ICT environments.

Knowledge and practical experience of hardware virtualization technologies (VMware preferred).

Knowledge and practical experience of high-availability and Real Time distributed computer systems.

Knowledge and practical experience of processing and displaying three dimensional data and Real Time data.

Knowledge and practical experience of military technical/ICT standards used in NATO (eg Link-16).
