ETL LEAD DEVELOPER

A large multi-national company based in the financial sector are embarking on a major data strategy programme to migrate from their existing single Data Warehouse platform to a target architecture based on Operational Data Stores (ODS) based on SQL Server 2012, and a new Data Warehouse platform.

A pilot implementation on the ODS Layer will get underway in June, with further rollouts and implementation of new data warehouse platform planned, based on the successful implementation of the Pilot.

The immediate requirement is for resource to be available from June 2015. As part of the rollout we will be looking to extend the contracts for some of the resources into 2016.

Role: Take a lead role in the development, implementation and support of new and existing BI solutions.

Key Skills:

Responsibility for the on-going development, implementation and adherence to the quality review process for deliverables produced by the ETL team, and the delivery processes used.

Provide input to project delivery plans for task estimation purposes and for dependency management with internal and external suppliers.

Drive the build and testing teams as well as co-ordinating the day-to-day project activities for the team.

Provide feedback to Delivery Lead on the performance of team members.

Ensure that technical designs produced by the Development team will meet the requirements from a business and technical level.

Design, develop and maintain ETL processes for mapping source data to target Operational Data Stores and Data Warehouse.

Provide support to BI team as part of the delivery life cycle, from requirements gathering through to testing and post implementation

Liaise with third party suppliers & other internal departments on system requirements/issues, with regards to the delivery and support of BI systems.

Adhere to all applicable IT development standards, including coding, testing, documentation and change control standards.

Experience & Knowledge:

7 + years commercial development experience of hands-on design and implementation of business solutions that include data design/modelling, ETL technologies and reporting/BI technologies, for multi-terabyte data warehouse solutions

Proven deep level of knowledge and proficiency in SQL, T-SQL, SSIS, MS SQL Server 2012

Advantage to have working knowledge of Teradata, Linux, Microstrategy, SAS, Data Modelling tools

Knowledge of products and processes around general insurance systems will also be an advantage
