Description

TEACH-NOW is looking for an experienced front-end engineer / designer to help us craft the next generation of online educational experience.

Who are we?
We are deep experts in educator preparation and have written our own curriculum and built our own learning platform to deliver it. We help people all over the world not only get certified to teach, but truly be equipped, enabled and empowered to change the lives of the students they work with.
We’re a somewhat-distributed team that’s based in Washington, DC. Though we’re far past looking for funding, we still operate with a start-up mentality, looking for employees that have an action-first, entrepreneurial spirit as well as expertise in their field.

Who are you?
You must be fluent in HTML, CSS, at least one modern CSS framework, JS and JQuery. You’d much rather prototype live markup than wireframes in Photoshop. You have experience with CSS pre-processors and informed opinions about their use. We will strongly prioritize UI/UX experience, especially in the education market. The more of the stack you can operate in, the better – our platform lives in LEMP. The ideal candidate would have some familiarity with SEO and/or analytics, as well. In all cases, you’re eager to get deeply involved in our product and connect with our candidate experience in order to improve every aspect of it.

What will you do?
You will be in charge of the design and front-end implementation of both our public site, http://teach-now.com, and our program’s learning platform. You’ll work with our engineering staff, program managers and marketing team to make sure our sites represent the state-of-the-art program we are delivering. You’ll deliver recommendations about every aspect of our applicant and candidate experience and then drive their implementation. You’ll start off working very independently but down the road, could easily end up running (or just being a part of) a small team.

The fine print
We’d love to find someone in DC, but preference will be given to expertise over location – qualified remote engineers are encouraged to apply. We offer a great compensation package including health insurance, a modest technology budget and salary between $60,000 and $85,000, commensurate with experience.

To apply please send us your resume, a little bit about your background and some examples of your work including a brief narrative about the history of the work and your specific involvement.
