An opportunity has arisen within Combat Vehicles(UK) for a permanent full time Product Safety Engineer.
The contractual location of the position can be either based in Telford or Newcastle with occasional travel to customer and other client Sites.
As a Product Safety Engineer your main responsibilities will involve:
Create and deliver System Safety and Environmental solutions throughout the project life cycle and across multiple projects.
Apply the processes and tools for Systems Safety and Product Environmental management to ensure effective safety and environmental management support of the Combat Vehicles (UK) product portfolio.
Work with Sub-System engineers, Technology Managers, Platform Managers and customers to identify hazards, assess and provide elimination or risk reduction strategies thus ensuring the delivery of a tolerably safe system to the customer.
Work in accordance with the relevant client, Governance and Product Safety and Product Environmental policies and handbooks.
As a Product Safety Engineer your skills, experience and qualifications will ideally include:
A safety engineer, knowledgeable in undertaking the following; Hazard Identification, Hazard Analysis, Risk Estimation, Hazard Log management (eCassandra preferable), Safety Case Authorship, ALARP justification statement generation.
Ideally experienced working in the defence sector and in particular the following UK MoD safety management processes; Def-Stan 00-56, JSP 454, JSP 520, POSMS and POEMS or a similarly regulated domain would be an advantage.
Ideally be experienced in liaising with external customers and their ISA, and experience in the organising and running of Safety Management Panels.
Knowledge in Environmental engineering management would be advantageous.
Proven safety engineering skills
University degree.
