Description

Senior Drives development engineer - Contract - 3- 6months - Eastbourne

A very successful company based in Eastbourne is looking to grow rapidly this year due to its success year on year.

The products they manufacture have electronic pumps and the motors require electronic drive motor control.

Therefore they need an experienced engineer to develop the drive electronics for new pumps and also provide support.

You must have experience if high speed digital electronics and electronic design.

Your role:

- Requirements analysis.
- Concept proposals and selection.
- Detailed electrical and electronic design and analysis.
- Prototype building and testing.
- Verification and validation against functional requirements
- Standards compliance work including improvement/development to meet goals.
- Production and field problem investigation and solving.
- Value engineering and cost reduction support.

Skills required:

- Power electronics design/development, especially MOSFET/IGBT based inverters
- Analogue electronics design and analysis, including signal conditioning and conversion.
- Schematic capture with ORCAD or similar tool.
- System integration testing and qualification testing
- Experience of compliance work for electrical safety and for EMC.
- Working knowledge of EN61010, EN61326 and UL equivalents.
- Preparation of specifications and test reports

Desired Skills:

- Design for manufacture and test
- Circuit simulation with PSPICE
- Thermal design and modelling
- MATLAB and Simulink for control system modelling
- Familiarity with motor control methods for induction motors and PM synchronous motors.
- Classical control theory and practice
- Experience with Embedded software for control
- FMEA and failure analysis
