Oracle DATABASE SPECIALIST
Our client with the Government Sector is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Specialist to join their team on an initial 3 month contract basis with the possibility of extension.
The Oracle Database Specialist will be part of a team developing online and batch applications. You will work in a development environment (Database Version 11G R2, Oracle Forms/Reports ) and will be expected to carry out the following tasks/duties identified below:
You will work as part of a team under the direction of Departmental team leaders/systems analysts and will be required to work closely with other development teams, some of which may have external contractors.
Oracle Database Specialist Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitating the achievement of goals established for the projects to which assigned
- Assisting with database design and implementation
- Development and maintenance of package code/stored procedures on an ongoing basis to support development teams across the Department
- Troubleshooting and resolving database problems
- Determination of any shortcomings of database system and recommending improvements
- Advising developers on best practice and optimal approach in the use of PL/SQL,
- Provision of support for data analysis and data-driven decision making
- Completing assigned tasks related to phases of development life cycle of enterprise applications within given scope and timeframe requirements
- Developing customised reports
- Mentoring and facilitating skills transfer to Department staff
- Any other tasks which are considered by the Department to be appropriate to the role
Oracle Database Specialist Key Requirements/Skills:
At least 5 years experience working in the database specialist role.
- Database:
- Database design from concept to implementation; specifically on multiple schema and multiple instance environment
- Development and maintenance of PL/SQL packages making full use of the latest features of PL/SQL, with specific emphasis on data migration and scheduled batch programs
- Monitoring performance and tuning 3-tier Oracle applications in liaison with DBA team.
- Formulating and implementing design and coding standards for PL/SQL
- Deployment patch Scripting
- Oracle Application Development:
- In-depth knowledge of Oracle Forms & Reports
- Formulating and implementing design and coding standards for Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports.
- Proficiency in Toad, and/or SQL Developer
- Oracle Application Server 11G
- Management of forms server configuration files.
- Management of reports server configuration files
- Management of forms and reports services within Oracle Enterprise Manager
