6 Month Contract

Dublin

A resource is required within the Software Services (DBA) Capability to provide 3rd Level operational technical support, design, consultation and technical expertise.

The Role:

The DBA will work within the Database Technical team and will be responsible for service level aspects of customer delivery in line with an agreed Statement of Work and Service Level Objectives.

The DBA will contribute to customer service reviews with the customer providing regular activity reporting, analysis of problems, events and changes. The DBA will contribute to identifying continuous improvement recommendations regarding capacity, configuration and performance in the environment. The DBA shall identify any immediate actions which may be needed to meet Service Level Agreement, security and/or quality audits.

The DBA will need to ensure that all changes meet production criteria, liaise with other resources involved in carrying out changes (including changes for the customer) and acting as first point of escalation for customer delivery issues.

Key responsibilities are:

  • Day to day Operational support activities such as performance troubleshooting, system tuning and general administration activities
  • Expertise in Backup and Restore methodologies and practices.
  • Experience of identifying and implementing continuous improvements opportunities.
  • Contribute to and develop the SQLServer expertise of the team and to share it with the other support teams
  • To contribute to ongoing Technology Roadmap plan for SQL Server on the Account.
  • Execute, and contribute to the design of, overall database architecture strategy.
  • To take part in projects linked to Service Quality Improvement and Business growth.
  • Create and follow data standards and change management process
  • Support HA/DR architecture and manage common data interface layers
  • Work closely with project teams to develop data models for business processes.
  • Work with application development teams to ensure adherence to SQL coding standards.
  • Ensure proper prioritization and schedule for production database changes.
  • Process and technical documentation
  • Bachelors or undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • SQL Server 2005, 2008 and SQL2012 experience
  • MS SQLServer Certification
  • Must possess a minimum of 5+ year's previous Tech Support experience.
  • Heavy hands-on programming experience with TSQL and stored procedures
  • SSIS, SSDT and SSAS experience advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skill: Oral and written - English.
  • Must be very customer oriented and focused on meeting the customer's needs.
  • Ability to operate well in an international environment.
  • Must possess very strong problem solving and resolution experience.
