Description

A Renewable Energy client is looking for a Welding Inspector Site Representative to focus on the Foundation structures for an Offshore Windfarm project. This 12 months contract role is to start ASAP (within the next 2 weeks) and will be based in Southern Netherlands, with occasional travel to other locations. This Welding Inspector will stand alone a the office/workshop site on behalf of the Offshore wind farm owner and operator, reporting to the Foundation Fabrication Manager.

Requirements:
Inspection, verification of workmanship and weld quality based on applicable project Specifications/Drawings/Norm/Codes/Standards. Responsible for the allocation and satisfactory completion of tasks and be authorised to sign on behalf of the client's Foundation Fabrication Manager.
Core Tasks:
Recording production activities and monitoring of workmanship within foundation production facilities in the Netherlands. Carrying out inspection of primary steel assemblies prior to dispatch, and corrosion protection facility. Checking of as built documentation prior to issue ensuring correct and complete information present.

Responsibilities:
  • Verify, Survey, monitoring fabrication during pre-fabrication/Installation and erection of welded constructions.
  • Planning and perform supervision and welding inspection during all project welding activities as described above.
  • Verify operational welding techniques and activities used to fulfil quality control requirements for welding operations.
  • Planning, control, supervision and application of base material and filler metals in the preparation and completion of production.
  • Check detection and measurement of weld discontinuities by application of visual or other non-destructive evaluation processes to a written procedure.
  • Check verify plans/drawings/specifications regarding validity and clear marked with AFC (Approved for construction).
  • Review and verify PQR's and WPS's.
  • Review/verify welders qualifications and certifications. Review, verify material certificates. Check, verify by measuring weld equipment calibration status and correctness of calibration certificates.
  • Produce daily report of production activities within SIF production facilities.
  • Carry out final inspections of components and associated as-built records prior to dispatch.

Competencies

  • At least 2 years' experience within production facility of offshore wind turbine foundation structures
  • Technical product knowledge
  • Welding and production processes knowledge
  • At least 5 year experience as welding inspector.
  • Good knowledge of national/international codes/standards.
  • Good knowledge of Sub-arc welding methods and NDE/NDT methods.
  • In accordance with applicable requirements of the DIN-EN 14731 IIW (International Institute of Welding), or AWS (American Welding Society) ASME IX or DIN EN.

  • Language skills - Fluency in English, and ideally Dutch
