About the department:
The department's role is to lead and drive reform of radio telecommunications across the state.
Supporting agencies that use operational telecommunications for critical and non-critical purposes. These include public safety and law enforcement agencies, emergency, essential and community service providers for which the use of telecommunications is a vital part of their work.
About the role:
The solution architect is responsible for capturing business requirements and translating these into fit for purpose solutions. The architect will carry primary responsibility as the technical lead in defining end to end solutions aligned to enterprise strategies, principles & standards. The solutions include applications, databases, integration & hosting (cloud)
The architect will also facilitate in governing suppler/partners in delivery of solutions, transition to operations, and development of support processes & material.
- Identify solution synergies and complexities across business functional areas
- Develop and govern the technical elements of statement of works & schedules.
- Identify fit for purpose solutions from market
- Present solution options, costs, risks & constraints to stakeholders
- Manage technology risks, issues & dependencies
- Develop conceptual solution designs
- Review & ensure compliance of detailed designs to standards, business requirements, enterprise architecture
- Develop transition and systems support documentation
- Ability to manage supplier/partners to an outcome
- Improve availability, service continuity, reliability and security of existing applications.
- Develop functional specifications for applications according to business requirements, and evaluate technical proposals according to compliance with requirements
Required Previous Experience:
- 5+ years of solution architecture experience, with specific experience and expertise in design and management of delivering end to end solutions.
- Proven delivery record of successfully leading the planning, evaluating, designing and implementing of complex solutions for enterprise network platforms, capabilities, information systems and application enablers from strategic concept to operational implementation.
- Desirable is working knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman etc.
- Desirable is working knowledge of project methodologies and life cycles
- Recent experience in working on multiple projects delivering solutions
- Demonstrated understanding of carrier grade business support systems such as Enterprise Asset Management, Configuration Management and Operational Support Systems.
- Working knowledge of IT Services Management Frameworks such as ITILv3.
- Ability to create MS SQL/PL/SQL queries and know best practice related to SQL database schema design
- Ability to write Excel macros
