Next Ventures is currently looking for an Embedded JavaScript Developer for a 3 months contract in Amsterdam.
As part of this project, the client is looking for an Embedded JavaScript Developer to develop TV applications. The developer will work with other Embedded developers responsible to port a Middleware Framework on a Legacy Embedded STB, providing the engine for the TV applications.
Main Responsibilities:
Implement new JavaScript TV applications.
Support the integration, debugging and tuning of TV applications.
Contribute to and create detailed technical designs.
Participate in pilot deployment.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Education level: Minimum of bachelor degree.
Experience: Minimum of 4+ years related experience in an expert delivery environment within STB/DVB/DTV arena.
Expert Knowledge in/of:
o Javascript, HTML/HTML5, CSS, Java
o Programming experience in a Digital STB environment including understanding of DVB-SI tables and its manipulation (eg SI-Db build and use)
o TV API understanding (eg channel change API, MPEG chip set API, CAS API, etc.)
o Software design for Embedded systems
o Knowledge of AJAX, JSON, XML, SOAP, REST
Extended experience in:
o Working with customers to explain their options, review the benefits of each solution and ensure the customer's business requirements are satisfied with the design.
o Experience/ability to be technology lead supporting the setup of an overall architecture, reviewing and approving designs with tech leads, code reviews, debugging
o Strong analytical skills; ability to see at both the high level view and focus on detail if required; ability to apply technology to solve business problems.
o Determination and drive to consistently and successfully deliver according to commitment (results driven).
o Pro-active individual - able to see issues and suggest solutions before they arise. Fluent in English, other European languages are an advantage.
o Good communication skills and understanding of various cultures.
Below skills are an added advantage:
o Experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle.
o Server Side web development: PHP, Java.
o Experience with DVB and MPEG digital TV standards.
o Experience with Conditional Access/Digital Rights Management systems.
o Experience with cloud-based client implementations.
