Description

The Role

We are currently looking for a full-time, enthusiastic UX/UI Designer to work alongside our product development teams in Portsmouth.

The UX/UI Designer will provide web application UX/UI design for multiple Agile software development teams. Working alongside the Product Managers and Software Architect, the UX/UI Designer will establish and maintain company standards and guidelines for user interface/experience design. The majority of code to implement the designs is the responsibility of the development teams so this person will be the customer UI champion.

This position is located in Fareham, Portsmouth. You will need to travel to customer site or our Leeds offices when required.

Job Tasks

These are the tasks you undertake on a regular basis which make up your job role:
  • Within the scope of UX/UI design, undertake appropriate customer research and provide feedback evidence documents
  • Create sketches, illustrations, wire-frames, prototypes, user flow layouts, and interaction/navigation specifications
  • Deliver consistent, clean, intuitive, user centric and verified web application UX/UI designs for customers and multiple Agile development teams
  • Work with the Technical Director to continuously improve Smoothwall's UX/UI design process, and maintain company standards and guidelines covering all UX/UI design
  • Provide input into sprint planning and work estimation, report progress in daily stand-up and actively participate in retrospective meetings
  • Undertake internal and external customer usability testing of UX/UI designs
  • Maintain own skills and research new UX/UI design techniques and tools
  • Contribute to innovation within the product
  • Contribute to the development continuous improvement process
  • Upkeep of applicable internal systems


Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will need to have:
  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience in either product design, interaction design or human-computer interaction
  • Experience of designing UX/UI for the web
  • Ability to implement and maintain a UX/UI design standard and process
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Ideally experience of using a range of UX/UI design tools
  • Ideally experience of customer UX/UI feedback and research techniques
  • Ideally experience of working within an Agile environment
