Description

PURPOSE:

As a senior member of the second line of defence Regulatory Risk Advisory team to provide:
  • Expert advice, pragmatic guidance and robust challenge to key stakeholders within the Bank;
  • Leadership and subject matter expertise regarding regulatory and conduct risks and issues;

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
CUSTOMER
  • PROVIDE SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTISE, ADVICE AND CHALLENGE TO THE BUSINESS AND PROJECTS ON THE EVOLVING REGULATORY AND CONDUCT AGENDA TO ENSURE CUSTOMER OUTCOMES REMAIN THE KEY PRIORITY.
  • PROVIDE EXPERT ADVICE AND CHALLENGE ON REGULATORY CHANGE INITIATIVES, PRODUCT LAUNCHES / PROCESS CHANGES / DEVELOPMENTS TO PROTECT CUSTOMER INTERESTS.
  • PROVIDE EXPERT ADVICE, GUIDANCE AND CHALLENGE TO SUPPORT DELIVERY OF THE BANK'S MORTGAGE REMEDIATION PROGRAMMES/ACTIVITIES
  • PROVIDE EXPERT ADVICE, GUIDANCE AND CHALLENGE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE BANK'S REMEDIATION POLICIES
  • MANAGE KEY STAKEHOLDER RELATIONSHIPS ACROSS THE BANK BY PROVIDING REGULATORY AND CONDUCT RISK CHALLENGE AND ADVICE. KEY STAKEHOLDERS INCLUDE:-


- MORTGAGES PRODUCTS (PRODUCT MANAGEMENT TEAM, FIRST LINE RISK, DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY AND PLANNING TEAMS)

- BUSINESS PROCESSING OPERATIONS (SECURED OPERATIONAL ARREARS, MORTGAGE SERVICING)

- MORTGAGE REMEDIATION PROGRAMMES (PROJECT TEAM, PROJECT WORKING GROUPS)
RISK AND PROCESS
  • SUPPORT THE CONTINUED EMBEDDING OF REGULATORY FRAMEWORKS INCLUDING THE REGULATORY RISK / CONDUCT RISK STRATEGY AND REGULATORY RISK AND CONDUCT RISK POLICIES AND CONTROLS.
  • PROVIDE ADVICE AND GUIDANCE TO THE BUSINESS TO SUPPORT IMPLEMENTATION AND EMBEDDING OF THE RISK MANAGEMENT FRAMEWORK.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Subject matter expert in regulatory requirements applicable to the financial services sector specifically retail banking mortgages.
  • Detailed, up to date knowledge of internal and external Regulatory Risk developments and practices.
  • Good knowledge and experience of managing regulatory risk.
  • Detailed understanding of conduct risk and its applicability to retail banking mortgages and its customers.
  • Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Positive behavioural style with the ability to be demanding when appropriate.
  • Decision maker, providing timely and insightful advice and recommendations.
  • Ability to think strategically and deliver pragmatic solutions.
  • Experience of delivering and effecting change.
  • Proven ability and experience of building strong networks.
  • Experience of operating at a Mid Management level.
  • Expert level of understanding and practical application of FCA requirements (primarily MCOB)
