Some superb contract opportunities have arisen for experienced Functional Safety Engineers to work for a market leading automotive Tier 1. Candidates will have experience of Functional Safety 26262 and an Electronics/Systems Engineering background.

The Role

This vacancy exists due to growth in our clients exciting portfolio of niche and specialist vehicle safety systems applications, mass production applications and demand for management of functional safety from advanced concept to mass production development stages in many market sectors. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, you will analyse complex, Real Time systems in order to demonstrate and provide evidence for the suitability of such systems for their intended application. Examples include sensing and actuation control systems, automotive driver assistance, braking, steering, as well as aerospace, defence, and energy related projects.

What we are looking for

Essential:
- Excellent, rounded engineering skills.
- Functional Safety ISO 26262
- Ideally Automotive experience
- Experience of high integrity Systems Engineering life cycles in developing safety related products for niche or mass applications.
- Competency in Systems Safety Analysis methodologies and techniques
- Good communication and inter-personal skills for customer and stakeholder liaison
- Able to use initiative, be self motivated and be a good team player
- Willing and able to work at customer facilities in UK, EU and USA
- First degree or higher in a related discipline, or relevant industrial experience

Desirable:
- Experience of delivering safety case exhibits within time and cost constraints
- Knowledge of Verification planning and implementation
- Experience of good Safety Culture

What you'll do

- Enthusiastically seek to apply and continuously improve Systems Engineering competency, tailored processes/methodologies, and tools in the development of safe systems.
- Contribute to or technically lead the elicitation, analysis, comprehension and specification of requirements for complex systems with particular focus on safety
- Apply techniques such as Hazard Analysis (HA), Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA) & Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) to systems analysis
- Communicate to appropriate Stakeholders in a manner that facilitates good decision making; highlighting issues raised during analysis and recommend alternative design approaches
- Supervise other engineers and external suppliers
