Description
My client is a large telecommunications company looking for an Open Stack engineer to be part of their team in Brussels.
As part of the Unix/Linux engineering team you will be responsible for the design of a Telco Cloud based on Open Stack (NFV). You will lead in the study, design and engineering of the environment work in close collaboration with design engineers in other areas and with Unix/Linux systems administrators of the Linux Operations teams. You will report to the Unix/Linux Engineering Manager.
Engineering and Maintenance tasks:
*Define & design client Open Stack cloud infrastructure and strategy in a Telco environment (Network Functions Virtualisation)
*life cycle management of the software, firmware and hardware configurations
*Fine-tuning, optimisation and securing the environment
*Testing updates and upgrades of related software
*Testing, validating, engineering, new products using a project way of working
*Follow-up vendors on escalated issues, new technologies and roadmaps
*Acting as the cross-area technical point of contact in your domain
*Document new designs, strategies and (to be) implemented solutions
*Solving fundamental design & dimensioning problems
*Handover project knowledge to other team members for day-to-day management
Skills and Experience:
*At least 3-5 years experience in an enterprise environment, more specific in high-end Linux or Unix production environments
*Experience in the definition, planning, testing and implementation of new services and technologies
*Understanding/Experience in design/implementation of Open Stack or one of its commercial offerings in an enterprise environment, knowledge of available plugins and orchestration.
*Good troubleshooting and analytical skills
*General planning and project management skills and experience.
*Good knowledge of English
*Technically Proactive, strong communication & negotiation skills, mediator.
Technical Skills
*Several years of experience in supporting, and engineering Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
*Operational experience with VMware ESX virtualization technologies
*Operational experience with Storage Area Network (SAN) &
*Applied knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks, methods, and tools.
*Applied knowledge of network and security technologies
*Knowledge of common networking & security protocols, DNS, SSL/TLS, ...
*Programming experience to automate activities (python, Ansible, Shell Scripting, git)
Understanding of the following is a plus:
oRed Hat Enterprise Linux v6,7
oVirtualisation (WMWare, KVM)
oLAMP-stack

oPackaging tools
oContainer technology (docker, LXC, cgroups)
