Profile type Software Architect
Task description
Conception, design, coordination of the implementation and quality assessment of information systems technical architectures and supporting infrastructures
Analysis and design reviews of information systems enterprise-, information- and application component architectures
Assistance with the implementation of the technical architecture during information system infrastructure development projects
Risks and costs/benefits analysis of ICT solutions
Elaboration of guidelines and recommendations concerning technical architecture in software development, taking into account
the existing infrastructure at the European Commission and its
evolution.
Production of software architecture documents
Participation in technical working groups and progress meetings
Qualifications
Post-secondary-school university studies (5-year program) in a relevant domain (IT/economics/business management) resulting in a master degree or equivalent
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of enterprise architecture with emphasis upon the application and technical perspectives
Knowledge of hardware, software, application, and systems engineering
Ability to provide guidance to teams on working processes and methods for the realisation of technical architectures
Service Oriented Architecture concepts
Internet applications design (Web 2.0 technologies)
Java, PHP or .Net, (SharePoint ) technologies
Database management systems
Information Systems security
Ability to proactively learn and analyse new software architecture concepts.
Customer service orientation
Technical redaction skills in English.
Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings (English or French), excellent communicator.
Capability of working in an international/multicultural environment
Capacity to write clear and structured technical documentation and give presentations on the related subject

Provide expert advice on Enterprise Architecture, Business Process Management, Service Orientation Architecture, Information and Data Management
- Systems thinking - the ability to see how parts interact with the whole, the ability to see the 'big picture'
- Excellent knowledge of Enterprise Architecture, Business Process Management, Service Orientation Architecture, Information and Data Management
- Knowledge of IT governance and IT operations
