Description
The role involves developing standalone .NET software applications using C#, built within the MS Visual Studio environment.
A variety of software applications will need to be developed starting with helper applications such as file watcher and XML parsing applications, leading up to standalone software applications. These application would typically have an MSSQL Back End and interfaces to hardware devices using API's rather than device drivers. Ideally some experience with WPF technology would also be useful.

Job Summary: The Software Engineer requires a strong technical background and aptitude and an ability to produce high quality code which can be deployed efficiently to our customers.
Responsibilities:
Analysis of requirements and solution design
Provide accurate estimates and timings
Develop functional and software design specifications
Develop and write code to specification
Implement and unit-test features
Liaise with engineering team to ensure full integration with customer systems
Maintain and complete development on existing products
Work on new product development
Ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget and to a high standard
Candidates will preferably have previous experience with industrial automation systems
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have experience with industrial automation, instrumentation, RFID and labelling.
Relevant third level qualification(s) such as BSc in Computer Science or BEng in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
Must have minimum of five years relevant industrial experience.
Strong understanding of software development, quality assurance and product delivery concepts.
Experience of programming and software systems with languages such as C#, VB.NET, Java.
Knowledge of MS SQL Server, T-SQL and working with relational databases.
Experience with integrating to external hardware
Previous experience of programming and troubleshooting PLC control systems such as Siemens or Allen Bradley controllers.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
Ability to work with multiple disciplines including in house Engineering, Operations, Quality and Product Development, partners and contractors, as well as customer IT, Validation and Operations groups.
Must demonstrate excellent problem solving skills with a can do attitude.
Must demonstrate excellent English language skills, both written and spoken, with a strong attention to detail.
