2 x Composite Process Engineers - Contract - Stevenage - Excellent Salary!

We have an excellent opportunity for a Process Engineer for a Contract role based in Stevenage.

Our client has a new requirement for 2 Process Engineers to join the Engineering Team working under the direction of the Process Engineering Team Leader.

We are looking for two engineers to split the requirement:

  • Composite Components and or Composite Assembly experience.
  • Composite Component Manufacture on pre-preg moulding skill sets
  • The responsibilities of this role will encompass a broad range of process engineering activities to support both ongoing production and new development programmes. The engineer will be responsible for the development, implementation and continual improvement of composite production processes, interfacing with design and operations teams as well as external customers.

    Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:

    • Develop manufacturing processes for new components.
    • Creation of planning documentation to define production processes along with relevant bills of materials and routings in the ERP system.
    • Support the design process for new projects to ensure ease of manufacture.
    • Define and deliver tooling on new projects and ensure maintained to the correct standard.
    • Ensure continuous improvement across existing product lines to improve efficiency and quality.
    • Provide engineering support to the quality team during non-conformance investigations.
    • Represent the production engineering function in operations, quality and customer reviews.

    Experience/Qualifications:

    The candidate shall ideally have a production/manufacturing engineering background in the aerospace or related industries and will have been involved in the production of composite aero structure components and assemblies.

    The skill set requirements for the position are as follows:

    Essential:

    • Education to HND/Degree level in mechanical/aerospace engineering or similar.
    • Demonstrated competence and experience in the manufacture of fibre reinforced composite materials.
    • Knowledge of both mould and assembly tooling concepts and requirements.
    • Good communication and team working skills

    Preferred:

    • Experience with use of Laser placement technology
    • Understanding of tolerance stack control in composite assembly.
    • Familiar with military and civil requirements for aircraft structures.
    • Experience of generation of detailed manufacturing specifications.
    • Knowledge of both autoclave and out of autoclave curing processes as well as RTM/resin infusion technologies.
    • Familiar with use of Fibresim or similar
