Are you interested in applying your technical skills to identifying the next global infectious disease threat and improving global health?

EcoHealth Alliance is seeking software developers for our tech team. As part of a small team of developers, data scientists, and infectious disease scientists, you'll develop tools to support EcoHealth Alliance's mission in conservation and global public health. The focus of this position will be to develop global health web platforms that are actively used to monitor global emerging infectious diseases, and that contribute to the analysis of disease emergence.

Description and Responsibilities
We are looking to build a diverse team with a variety of skill sets and backgrounds. Position duties may include:

  • Contributing to open source software; mobile app development, building front-end(s) for web frameworks (e.g., Meteor)Data and text mining
  • Designing scientific visualizations
  • Geo-tagging and geo-visualization
  • Network modeling
  • Contributing to technical project management
  • Some collaborative proposal development.
  • Developing natural language processing and machine learning systems


  • We mostly code in CoffeeScript, JavaScript, and Python and use Meteor for web apps and AWS for hosting. We collaborate on GitHub, do code review via pull requests, and use project management tools and communication to keep everything on track.

    The position is based at EHA headquarters in New York City (Manhattan). Local candidates are preferred, with possible relocation assistance available. Outstanding remote candidates will also be considered, but must be available to work for at least 4 hours between 9am and 6pm Eastern Standard Time to facilitate collaboration with New York based employees.
