Sr. Cobol, DB2 contract with C++ experience or exposure

Programmer/Analyst will be responsible for providing application support for CSS, Customer Support System, and related Mainframe applications. CSS is a Customer/1 Client Server application written in Enterprise Cobol with a DB2 database. Client code is written in C++.

Position is Mainframe support.

This Application Support role includes:
- Providing production support of business applications, ensuring high availability
- Software code maintenance, including routine changes
- Resolving batch and on-line abends, including after-hours rotational on-call support as needed during non-business hours.
- Ensuring secure, efficient, and economic high availability of applications and processing with adequate safeguards for both security and integrity.
- Following standard support procedures and use of ITSM tool (Remedy) to track work activity
- Providing support for assigned business applications according to existing standards, procedures, and practices.
- Demonstrating knowledge of Mainframe applications and system design, and skilled in use of Mainframe development tools and processes.

BS Degree and Recent and proven Cobol, DB2 development skills. Any C++ experience is a big plus.

- At least 5 years Mainframe experience, especially with TSO, MVS JCL, DB2, and Cobol.
- Ability to write and modify SQL statements.
- Experience in supporting end users with use of technology and applications
- Experience with Mainframe utility billing systems
- Prefer experience with large applications, especially customer or financial, such as accounts receivable
- Experience working in a Utility company or Customer/1 experience is highly desired.
