CFD Engineer- CFD simulations, Aero, Hydrodynamics

A CFD Engineer with CFD simulations, Aero and Hydrodynamics experience is required to work on a six month contract with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Bristol.

This is a 6 month contract working for a leading UK defence business.

Overview of the CFD Engineer contract role

The role is to supplement resource available within the Dynamics Group for producing a range of Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations using both commercial and in-house computational codes.

Key skills required for the CFD Engineer

  • CFD simulation
  • Good working knowledge of Commercial CFD codes
  • C/C++ Experience
  • Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  • Provide CFD simulation expertise for complex problems using a variety of simulation packages including ANSYS CFX, ICEM CFD, FLUENT and STAR CCM+.
  • Utilise underlying knowledge of numerical techniques and fluid dynamics to critically assess results from simulation on a task by task basis.
  • Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of aero and hydrodynamics characteristics.
  • For each individual task, or project, provide the customer with clear written and verbal communication of the assessment of the simulation results and provide clear recommendations regarding potential solutions, issues and direction of future studies.
  • Establish effective working relationships both internally within the local team and externally with the customer base.
  • Ensure that all personal engineering activities are conducted in accordance with the departmental Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Exhibit professional behaviours at all times.
  • Support the timely provision of task status and performance reports to all key stakeholders as required.
  • Ensure that appropriate security procedures are followed at all times.
  • Take personal responsibility to ensure that all reasonably practical measures are taken to reduce the risks and impacts associated with health, safety and the environment.

The role is based in Bristol - commutable from Gloucester, Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, Worcester, Cirencester, Swindon, Devizes, Trowbridge, Bath, Taunton, Bridgwater, Weston-Super-Mare, Newport and Cardiff.
