Description

The Centre for Excellence in Employment Services' mandate is to ensure Ontario builds and maintains the best possible employment service delivery network through five core areas of work - promoting innovation and best practice; providing top notch training and development for professionals in the sector; providing consulting assistance; engaging the business community; and, supporting community networks.

Our vision is that all people who have a disability in Ontario have access to the labour force and the ability to achieve meaningful employment. We do this by removing barriers that prevent or limit people who have a disability from attaining meaningful employment.

Employer Liaison

The Centre for Excellence is looking for independent and highly motivated individuals to join a small but dynamic team, dedicated to removing barriers to the workforce for people with a disability. Candidates must have an in-depth knowledge of employment services for people with a disability and a sound understanding of the business case for hiring people who have a disability.

This is a full-time contract position to March 31, 2017.

The Centre for Excellence operates on a virtual platform and this job requires training all over Ontario. As such, location of personal residency can be anywhere within the province. The successful candidate will work at home based office.

Candidates must have an ergonomically suitable home office and their own computer capable of operating Windows 7, MS Office 365 and other current software

Education:

Completed post-secondary education from a recognized Canadian Institute or its equivalent or a minimum of five years related experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years related experience in one or more of: Marketing, Sales, Public Relations and/or Communications
  • Previous experience working in the disability industry required
  • Extensive experience in public relations, public speaking and training

Required Duties:

Consulting:

  • Develop proposals to provide consulting services for business to help them develop strategies to on-board people with a disability.
  • Understanding of associated specialty skills and trainers (e.g. Human Resource management, recruitment and outreach strategies, etc.)
  • Assist employers to develop strategic approaches to creating diverse on-boarding strategies
  • Provide disability-related training and supports to businesses

Training:

  • Make presentations and provide training to business audiences e.g. Chambers of Commerce, HRPA, Service Clubs, Corporations, etc.
  • Understand and project the Business Case for including people with a disability in the workplace
  • Engage and encourage business owners/operators to include people with a disability in their hiring and recruitment processes
  • Coordinate/broker job opportunities with community employment agencies to provide candidates and support services
  • Translate the employer experience into training programs for service providers
  • Able to apply evaluation tools and modify curriculum and/or methods accordingly

Innovation:

  • Create a process to identify and recognize 'innovation' in the area of on-boarding and recruitment strategies that include people with a disability
  • Ability to research new trends and innovations in employment services and related areas
  • Ability to convert this the above into training programs/curriculum
  • Promote innovation in various activities and initiatives of the organization

Marketing and Sales:

  • Understanding of the peer-to-peer model of engagement
  • Active in social media as a promotional tool for information sharing and engagement
  • Create monthly/routine newsletters & communiques for employers
  • Develop a program to 'sell' the services of the Centre for Excellence
  • Able to apply evaluation tools and modify approaches accordingly

Capacity Building:

  • Support ODEN's Champion's League and business led initiatives
  • Help identify and develop more business champions
  • Create a recognition program for business with great inclusive hiring practice

Annual Conference:

  • Lead role in organizing an Annual Conference on employment and disability for business owners/operators.

Required Skills:

  • Intermediate user of Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Proficient use of current technology - Social Media, etc.
  • Proven good judgement and superior problem-solving skills
  • French language is an asset.

Knowledge:

  • In depth understanding of the business case for hiring people with a disability
  • Advanced understanding of employment services and barriers to employment for people with a disability
  • Good understanding of marketing strategies and techniques
  • Solid understanding of business operations with particular expertise in human resources and recruitment processes
  • Able to translate business needs (demand side) into a candidate and service agency (supply side) model.

Hours and Duration:

  • 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are flexed based on the demands of the job

Travel: Extensive travel is required and may be outside of regular working hours for meetings and community events, training, seminars, or to work in other locations

  • Use of a personal auto and valid driver's license is required; supplemental business insurance may be required.

Annual Salary: Commensurate with experience.
