Description
A leading client of mine based in Berkshire are looking for a Senior Linux Systems Administrator paying up to £480 per day.The ideal candidate will have strong Linux skills combined with Web Servers (Apache and Tomcat), monitoring solutions such as Nagios, and experience with VMWare ESXi, SAN/ NFS, Cisco Firewalls and deploying web applications.
Skills required include-:
*Deep understanding of Linux operating systems, particularly Ubuntu
*Extensive experience working with, installing and configuring Apache, Tomcat and other common Open Source application and web servers.
*Commercial experience of working on and running large web application infrastructures.
*Experience of building monitoring solutions with Nagios or similar
*Hands-on experience of the following technical areas:
*Vmware ESXi 5.x
*SAN and NFS storage array
*Cisco Firewalls
*Ideally Mongodb or MySQL skills
Key elements of this role will include-:
*Enhancing and supporting a build framework for deploying applications and managing Linux servers.
*Running development, stage and production environments and deployments.
*Supporting and working alongside Agile development teams to ensure they have all the facilities to get the job done.
*Driving best technology and software development practices into the team with passion and enthusiasm.
*Owning and managing relationships with multiple suppliers &/or equivalent internal teams
*Designing and implementing a platform including automated provisioning, security, management infrastructure (e.g. DNS, time, Authentication, mail and directory services)
*Establishing and running the processes for on-going maintenance monitoring support and security patching of a platform.
*Ensuring continuous improvement within the team.
