Position Title: Middle Tier Support Consultant
Location: Sacramento, CA
Work Type: W-2, Corp to Corp, 1099
Contract duration: 5months + (strong possibility of extension)
Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop Linux Shell Scripts for the administration of various COTS products supported by the MTS section.
- Develop scripts for performing regular day to day maintenance tasks for maintenance of COTS products.
- Prevent component and system downtime of the IdAM stack by proactively overseeing the various products that make that layer; develop or use existing tools to monitor performance, communication and capacity, and evaluate other pertinent metrics for assessing system health
- Support the reporting (IBM COGNOS BI) and other Business Intelligence infrastructure components.
- Identify and implement improvements to the existing operational processes within the Middle Tier section.
- Design, install, configure and test upgrades of existing products, and support their use in projects or the enterprise environments including production
- Analyze and troubleshoot problems with existing systems COTS application; identify and test possible solutions.

- Collaborate effectively with other teams across the organization to solve complex problems spanning their respective areas
- Evaluate system performance by ensuring that component are functioning as defined by service level agreements or other benchmarks

- Direct or participate in the development and testing of prototypes; provide input on the results and make recommendations for use
- Develop programs or scripts for automated installation or integration of products
- Create and/or maintain documentation of for the supported COTS products including supported standards, protocols, product limitations or workarounds and any non-standard or enhanced configurations.
- Support the application infrastructure and environment teams as needed and appropriate
Skills and Experience
1. Three (3) years of experience:
a) performing architecture quality assurance for complex projects and initiatives; performing enterprise applications integration (EAI); defining and developing shared services architectures; designing and developing component architectures; and/or defining enterprise technology architectures
b) development and test environment management/support
c) application build
d) troubleshooting and testing support
e) script development (Unix/Linux and Shell (ie BASH)
f) J2EE design/development
g) Oracle databases
h) IBM COGNOS, (this was added to this new req)
i) Weblogic, TomCat, Apache, Oracle Webcenter Content, Oracle Identity and Access Management Suite, Oracle SOA Suite, and Oracle Primavera
j) Middleware/systems integration concepts, approaches and methodologies, as well as a broad understanding of hardware and software components and enterprise integration architectures
k) Training and mentoring technical staff
2. Must be able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
3. Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a variety of audience types using different mechanisms, including informal updates, formal presentations, business case documents, and other analytical and technical documents.
