Purpose of the Role:

As Infotainment Systems Engineer will be responsible for development, test and delivery of state-of-the-art electronic information and entertainment features to current and future client road cars.

The Infotainment team is responsible for the specification, test and delivery of all infotainment systems, which will include; developing system requirements, test case and procedure creation, manual test execution, automated testing, as well as supporting the Principal Engineer in supplier management, provision of work to the test team, proof of concept development and business reviews.

The position requires a highly motivated and hands-on team player with an exceptional attention to detail, diligence and a positive attitude. The fast paced development and bespoke target platform provide a challenging environment suited to an engineer who has the ability to quickly develop skills in new areas and liaise with other engineers within a multidisciplinary team.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Write detailed system specifications for infotainment features.
  • Assist with management of multiple hardware and software suppliers to deliver new infotainment features on time, on cost, and within quality and functional specifications.
  • Assist with work provision for a small test engineering team.
  • Manage and execute testing of all software deliveries.
  • Take responsibility for resolving infotainment issues on current production vehicles.
  • Report on current activities, software status and issues at a business level.
  • Test client road cars with the latest features and content before release.
  • Develop and co-ordinate DVP plans for all areas associated with the infotainment software.
  • Manage and develop manual and automated test rigs to facilitate the required testing of all new and existing features within the infotainment software domain.
  • Assist with fault finding and root cause analysis of software and hardware failures.

Required Technical Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in a systems engineering, or electronics role - preferably a minimum of 2 years
  • Experience of the Systems Development Lifecycle (V Model); writing system requirements, defining test cases and writing test procedures.
  • Ability to produce formal documentation to a professional standard.
  • Organised, systematic and understand the process of fault finding.
  • Ability to effectively manage time between multiple projects.

  • Overall 10 years of experience where in 3 to 5 years in automotive domain

Advantageous Skills and Attributes:

  • Passion for the automotive industry, technology and/or audio would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience with Infotainment Systems: Bluetooth, Hands-Free Phone, AM/FM radio, Navigation, Audio Media and Infotainment HMI features.
  • Knowledge of CAN and CAN based tools.
  • Experience and understanding of vehicle level system integration in terms of hardware and software
  • Experience of systems testing of HMI-based systems.

Educational Requirements:

  • Honours degree (preferably 1st or upper 2nd) in a relevant engineering subject such as Electronics, Software, or Physics.
