Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer

We’re looking for talented Ruby on Rails engineers who love building cutting-edge RoR web applications.

Our award winning e-learning platform, the ArcheViewer, currently powers hundreds of online learning activities for the nation's leading healthcare organizations and continues to demonstrate outstanding learning outcomes for our educational partners. As demand for our unique data-centric approach to online learning soars, we are embarking on the development of an entirely new and innovative set of e-learning tools and products leveraging a service oriented architecture.

In this position, you will play a key role in transforming the way healthcare professionals learn online as new product development continues this summer. We currently have an agile and distributed team with some members based out of our brand new offices in Charlottesville, VA and others working remotely across the East Coast.

We are highly interested in candidates that can:
Work with the product management team to ensure the timely and quality delivery of software projects in a highly agile and distributed team environment
Architect scalable and elegant solutions to meet customer needs and business requirements
Collaborate during code reviews, paired programming and other team activities
Coach and mentor other team members
Research and adopt leading edge technology tools and frameworks

Qualifications:

7+ years of software development on large-scale web applications

5+ years in Ruby on Rails and Postgres required, including strong experience with JSON and RESTful APIs

2+ years in NOSQL (i.e., BigQuery, Mongo) a plus

1+ year working with Redis desired

Proven track record of being a critical thinker and team leader, with strong desire to challenge norms and innovate

Experience building innovative products in a fast paced agile environment

Excellent knowledge of web standards and related technologies

Demonstrable experience with Heroku and Amazon AWS

Fluent in relational database design and query languages

Working knowledge of a distributed SCM such as Git strongly preferred

BS (MS preferred) in Computer Science, or equivalent
