Electronic Manufacturing Technician - South Wales - Contract - Up to £35 p/h

We have an excellent opportunity for a Manufacturing Technician! This is a Contract role based in South Wales and requires you to hold a valid SC Clearance.

Job Description:

  • Build, test and repair of complex low volume communication products, in accordance with existing assembly and test procedures.
  • Maintain and develop product assembly and test capability by identifying potential process improvements and contributing to their implementation

Responsibilities:

The employee needs to ensure that:

  • Cost, time and quality targets are achieved for allocated tasks
  • Build, survey, test, repair and maintenance activities of complex equipment is carried out in line with company and regulatory procedures controlling the security of these products whilst ensuring records and databases are kept up to date.
  • Manufacturability analysis and formal feedback to design engineering is carried out for initial build of complex communications products
  • Critical spares stock of components, Line Replaceable Items (LRIs), parts, tools, Test Equipment systems and Special-to -Type-Test Equipment (STTE) are managed as required to support workload

The employee needs to contribute to:

  • Customer satisfaction through delivery of quality products
  • Production process improvement (eg throughput improvement, yield improvement, wastage reduction, quality improvement)
  • Design enhancement recommendations through reported trend analysis

Key Performance Measures:

  • MTTR ( Mean Time To Repair)/MTTT ( Mean Time To Build & Test)
  • Delivery of units within SLA
  • Trend analysis on failures and preventative action
  • Effective management of materials and spare LRIs and Test Equipment

Requirements of the job with regard to coordination and communication:

  • Co-ordinates manufacturing process for specific products.
  • Communicates and reports on manufacturing assembly and test issues encountered

Nature of the tasks to be completed in the job:

  • Assembly and test of Ectocryp and other products.
  • Fault diagnosis to component level on complex products.
  • Methodical approach to record keeping and shipping of units

Challenges of this job:

  • Meeting demanding cost, timescale and quality standards.
  • Overcoming manufacturability issues in prototype or pre-production equipment assembly and test.
  • Developing detailed product knowledge on a variety of complex communications equipment.

Additional requirements:

  • Must be cognisant of security aspects of Protectively Marked Material.

Key Skills/Product Knowledge:

Self-motivated, results driven, with experience in diagnostic fault finding down to component level on complex communication products with a desire to improve products and the processes used to build/test.

Technical Expertise:

  • Qualified to A-Level/BTEC Level 3 in STEM subjects, or equivalent vocational qualifications
  • Hands-on experience of applicable assembly, test and diagnosis techniques for complex electronic assemblies

Sector/Industry Knowledge:

Low volume highly complex communications products

Commercial Awareness:

Cognisant of the Cost of Quality and providing value add recommendations to improve the quality of outgoing products
