Description
VMWare Engineer needed for a 6 month on-going contract with a large investment bank in Zurich. However this role can be complted remotely in Wroclaw. The position is within a global engineering department and requires an understanding of VMware vSphere technologies and a proven background in build design, automation and Scripting. The ideal candidate will also have project management experience and excellent communication skills as the role has a large amount of customer contact.
MUST HAVE:
- Excellent understanding of VMware vSphere technologies and server automation concepts.
- Experience designing and operating enterprise level virtualisation solutions for a global organisation
- Proficiency in Scripting and/or automating repeatable processes, specifically using Linux Shell
- Excellent Communications skills - fluent English mandatory (written and verbal)
- Self-motivated
IMPORTANT TO HAVE:
- Experience in writing code against the VMware API and SDK
- Expert in writing code such as Windows Services and GUI using .NET languages (eg C#)
- Broad understanding of IT architecture and infrastructure
- Experience designing scalable multi-location virtual infrastructure platforms
- Working knowledge of Windows and Unix/Linux
- Good understanding of SAN/NAS technologies and their integration with virtualisation platforms
- Good understanding of Networking technologies and their integration with virtualisation platforms
- Ability to work in a fast paced dynamic environment while effectively prioritising tasks
NICE TO HAVE:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or equivalent experience.
- Ability to design, coordinate, plan, and manage complex technical solutions
- Knowledge of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery techniques
- Knowledge of systems management tool concepts
- Basic project management skills & experience
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
- Ability to document engineering results and recommendations for peer groups as well as senior management
- More than 5 years' experience in a large Data Centre Environment and related technologies
