Description

General Summary:
  • Conceptualize and prepare 3D models of automated machinery assemblies and components with guidance from senior design staff.
  • Work with lab or shop personnel to validate the designs.
  • Prepare detailed mechanical and electrical drawings of machine components and assemblies, create bills of material and manage the resulting documents in the electronic vault or business system, as needed.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design and/or modify systems and/or components.
  • Debug prototypes and modifications.
  • Determine modifications and improvements needed.
  • Determine and define compound or material test requirements for qualification.
  • Perform engineering change activities as required.
  • Use Solidworks 3D modelling and 2D drafting CAD software as part of the design process.
  • Initiate vendor contact and evaluate products by reviewing vendor specifications to be incorporated in the equipment design.
SKILLS:

Job Specifications:
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years engineering experience, preferably in a automated machinery design environment
  • Proficiency in Solidworks 3D CAD software
Additional Skills
  • Use of finite element analysis software for structural and vibration studies
  • Controls experience and PLC programming are desirable 
  • Solidworks
