Description

System Engineer required to work as part of the Legacy System Update (LSU) team to support the initial development phase for the next major uplift of BCIP system.
The role will involve the development of solutions for new/updated capability being introduced that will include new data terminal hardware and operating systems, updated User applications, enhancements to network protocols and tactical radios, and system management. Whilst the role is predominantly to undertake system design/documentation tasks to enable a system design review, the successful candidate will be expected to get involved with prototyping and systems integration to inform/validate design work.
The successful candidate will contribute to tasks at different stages in the engineering life cycle. Tasks assigned will be varied and can include analysing and defining customer requirements, architectural design, product development and support to system integration.

The successful candidate will have the below skills:
Experienced in developing designs, requirements specifications and interface specifications for systems, sub-systems and equipment.
Good understanding of system performance considerations and assessing system impact of design/implementation changes.
Thorough understanding of the system engineering life cycle and phases, and challenges associated with system engineering in a delivery focussed, commercially successful organisation.
Experienced in use of engineering methodologies including UML/SysML.
Experienced in use of engineering tools to manage requirements (DOORS), architecture/design (Artisan/Rhapsody).
Track record of contributing to the delivery of similar system engineering projects.
Candidates must be willing to undergo a security vetting procedure.
