Our client is seeking a Sr. Linux Engineer who will be responsible for the configuration, management, maintenance and installation and support of both existing and new Servers, system upgrades, patch management and resolving software or hardware related problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain development and production environments using systems/network diagram, ie provision storage, VMs, network, deploy & configure OS, 3rd party software and applications
  • Provide expert level support for network, storage, Linux and Windows environment in a physical, virtual and cloud (AWS) setting
  • Support software releases through code deployment in production and development environments
  • Implement IT goals such as HA via configuration of HA tools, monitoring and proactive resolution of issues, data availability by backups and restores etc.
  • Patch systems and software on a regular basis including that of VMWare, Ubuntu, PostgreSQL and other software in-use
  • Document standards, implementation procedures, and troubleshooting processes
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks

Qualifications:

  • 10+ Experience in IT industry
  • Expert level VMWare expertise, Amazon Web Services (AWS) exposure is a huge plus
  • Enterprise & Expert level administration of Linux (any flavor) and related application such as Apache/Nginx, Ruby/Rails stack or Python/Django etc., basically any LAMP or LAMP-like stack is REQUIRED
  • Expert knowledge on NTP, DNS, DHCP and TCP/IP
  • Chef and/or Ruby knowledge is a huge plus
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to complete tasks and deliverables under tight deadlines while maintaining flexibility
