Role Purpose:
Generation of safety programme plans and agreement of such programmes with the project and the customer, commensurate with the requirements of the clients process, DEF-STAN 00-56 and customer standards as applicable.

Responsible for the generation, promotion and realization of the stated plan on a given project.

Conduct a series of system and sub-system safety activities in support of this plan during all life cycle phases including, but not limited to: Hazard Identification exercises (SWIFT and HAZOP); Hazard management and risk analysis, including Fault Tree and Event Tree analysis; Liaison with project systems team and other functions in order to derive and agree safety requirements.

Construction of Safety Cases providing safety arguments, ALARP statements and Hazard Logs; Provide support to internal and external project Safety Panels, Safety Committees and Working Groups; With the project systems team and safety focal points, assist in the management and integration of these activities with system engineering and design programs to ensure the timely delivery of material and evidence supporting the safety case.

Skills and Knowledge:
Specific:
Demonstrable knowledge of the application of UK and International safety assessment processes.

General:
Experience of Systems Engineering.
Detail engineering experience (design, software, manufacture, etc) is desirable.
Experience of Reliability Engineering.
Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary/multi-national team.
Effective written and verbal communication skills with ability to adapt message content depending on audience or stakeholder set.
Ability to discern the key technical, commercial, and programme influences from available 'noisy' information.
Ability to make, and communicate cost, schedule adherence, and technical performance trade-offs.
