Safety Engineer - Contract - Dorset - Excellent Rates!
Our client, a global defence and aerospace company is looking for a Safety Engineer for a 52 week contract to be based in Dorset.
An urgent requirement for a contractor has become available to support an existing team of 5 safety engineers on a variety of programmes.
The selected applicant will assist the Safety Engineering Team specialists to develop a world class capability in requirement interpretation, Safety analysis and provision of recommendations for product compliance.
Key responsibilities:
- Production of safety documentation in line with project requirements and criteria.
- Close liaison with the Design Team and related engineering disciplines in support of producing System Safety documentation in line with project milestones.
- Administer Hazard Identification and Analysis team meetings.
- Attend project meetings in support of safety.
- The incumbent may be required to lead and report in meetings with the customers.
- The Contractor will review Designs and Schematics and assess best safety practises.
- Will determine the safety elements if a failure were to occur.
- The Safety Engineer will be aligned to a specific product. Dependent upon the complexity of the products they may work across multiple products,
Skills/Experience:
- An aerospace background, aerospace degree or equivalent.
- Experience in the safety assessment and certification of equipment for civil and/or military aircraft
- Proven knowledge of the safety assessment techniques in SAE ARP 4761, and experience in at least one of the following: MIL-STD-882, DEF STAN 00-56 and/or FAR/CS
- Experience in systems engineering principals.
- Knowledge of the following would be beneficial, but is not essential: ARP 4754, RTCA DO-, MIL-STD-1629A, CSs and FARs. (Certification Specification & Federal Aviation Regulations are comparable so knowledge of either would suffice)
- Attendance on established safety related courses advantageous.
- Must have worked as a Safety Engineer within the Aerospace Industry
