Role Overview

Our client is seeking a Software Engineer to be a part of a multi-discipline team. Ideally you would have come from an embedded software background and aspire to both taking on responsibility in shaping the development direction of an ambitious organisation, and leading other engineers. Directly reporting to the Software Team Leader, and working alongside talented individuals, you will be an extremely technical individual with a wealth of Software development experience and must demonstrate a strong passion for researching and developing the latest technologies into state-of-the-art solutions to add customer value.

Key Responsibilities but not limited to
  • Deliver quality, secure, scalable, high availability enterprise systems.
  • Coordinate development activities with Software Team Lead, Project
  • Manager and other Software Team Members.
  • Proactively participate in Cyan's agile process.
  • Undertake significant hands-on software development in Python.


Essential Technical Skills and Experience
  • Track-record of delivering software systems.
  • Performance as part of a successful agile software team.
  • Skilled Python programmer.
  • Excellent communicator.

Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Knowledge and practice of many programming and scripting languages. e.g. Python, C, C++, JavaScript, Perl, Bash, etc.
  • Knowledgeable about common internet protocols, standards, architectures and patterns. e.g. TCP/IP, SSL/TLS/X.509, REST, RPC, messaging.
  • Versed in internet technologies commonly used in construction of web application UIs. e.g. HTTP, HTML, CSS, AngularJS, AJAX, JSON.
  • Experience of ISM band radio. e.g. ZigBee, IEEE , 6LoWPAN, WiFi, Bluetooth.
  • Significant experience with using relational and non-relational databases, and knowledge of their comparative strengths, differences and weaknesses.
  • Experience of DevOps culture and practices.
