Lead Engineer Cambridge, UK Starting Immediately £40-55k (dependent on experience) + benefits

Role Overview

Our client's Product Development team is seeking a Lead Engineer to be a part of a multi-discipline team working with novel touch sensor technology. Ideally you would have come from an electronics engineering and embedded software background and aspire to both taking on responsibility in shaping the development direction of an ambitious organisation, and leading other engineers. Reporting to Senior Management level, and working alongside talented individuals, you will be an extremely technical individual with a wealth of mixed signal knowledge and must demonstrate a strong passion for researching and developing the latest technologies into state-of-the-art solutions to add customer value. You will represent the company at industry level forums and to internal stakeholders, hence excellent communication and presentation skills are an essential requirement for this role.

Key Responsibilities but not limited to
  • Drive, develop and document product and technology solutions for the touch sensor sector, including participating in shaping the strategies to ensure future growth and profitability, hardware and software specifications, system, and back-office definition.
  • Working level experience in business case development and product development to be able to work alongside the product manager on the management of the product life cycle.
  • Define technical solutions to support the product requirements and interface with relevant organizations throughout the company and with vendors, customers to coordinate the introduction and acceptance of the product solution with other platforms including software, hardware, and systems capabilities. A sound commercial awareness and understanding is necessary.
  • Management of a small development team of software and hardware engineers, as well as external contractors.
  • Document product solutions in accordance with the company standards.
  • Drive future product and strategy through industry forums and proof of concept development
  • Work with the sales support organization to support products and to gain vital feedback for future product development.


Essential Requirements
  • Bachelor or Postgraduate degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in Electronic/Embedded Software design and development
  • Previous team and project management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence organizational direction and departmental initiatives working with all leadership levels.
  • Ability to accept and adapt to organizational changes and demonstrated problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to be able to translate technical challenges and achievements into project and business impact
